Carnival Dream Review Jan 30th 2010
This again is our personal account of our time onboard the
Dream.
Karen, Bill, Sue & I had made
our Wal-mart run between sailings, We had contacted John &
Roxanne at the Radisson hotel while we were out, found out
that their shuttle to the port wouldn’t be till about 1pm,
so we stopped by picked them up, and brought them to the
cruise terminal.
Once the 4 of us got back onboard through the VIP check in,
we got ready for the 2nd part of our Dream adventure.
This week was an Eastern Caribbean itinerary with ports of
call @ Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.
````` Departure from Port Canaveral for this sailing was on
Saturday Jan 30th, weather was good, and calm seas were the
order of the day.
John & Roxy contacted us when they arrived onboard, we met
them on deck 10 aft to start the Carnival Connections &
Cruise Critic Roll Call Members check in.
We met more of our online
cruise friends for the first time, shared laughter, gave out
more raffle tickets for the 2nd meet & greet, along with
info for the other events that had been setup by our
cruisers on the "Cruise Fellows" page for this sailing.
Muster drill was held, and the new way is to meet at a pre
determined location onboard without your life jacket and
receive the info required in case of a real emergency.
After the muster drill was held we headed back up to deck 10
aft for a short period of time to see if other roll call
members would show up, from there we went to the starboard
side of the ship for sail away, then to our balcony cabin to
continue a lil silly-bration with Bill, Karen, John, and
Roxanne.
Since the 4 of us had been onboard last week it was our job
to show John & Roxy the Dream.
The first nights dinner was held in the Crimson dinning
room, and Mr Claudio had taken care of the seating
arrangements, we had John & Roxy with us along with Mary
(beachy1nut), we all got caught up with John & Roxy, and
made plans for the nights adventures.
We went to the Welcome show in the Encore lounge, where this
week we had Mr John Heald as our cruise director, lots of
fun and laughter throughout the entire show.
Our first port of call was Nassau on Sunday Jan 31st.
Since it was the first time for our friends from California
(Bill, Karen, John, & Roxy) we all decided to just do a
little self guided walking tour of the local area, we
ventured to Ft. Fincastle and a few other places that day.
Once back onboard the Dream we all went our separate ways to
get cleaned up, relax, and get something to eat.
We met in the Atrium prior to dinner, had a drink, then went
in for another fun time with our wait staff, Mr. Manny & Ms.
Katrina, and of course Claudio our Maitre D’, a good time
was had by all, this was also the first cruise formal night.
After dinner we went to the comedy club and saw Lewis Nixon
& Al Ernst, both good shows.
Monday Feb 1st was the first
sea day for this sailing, we had the 2nd meet & greet in the
Chambers lounge where we did the drawings for gifts from the
original raffle tickets that were given out @ the 1st Meet &
Greet, along with a “$$$” raffle.
After this everyone did their own thing, we made our way up
to deck 14 for our day in the sun.
That night we all met again for dinner, and talked about
what we all had done during the day.
After dinner we all went to the Encore lounge for the
“Evolution of Edge Comedy & Juggling” show, another good
time was had by our group.
A laser show was held on the mid-ship Lido deck that night
around midnight, good show with music, just not long enough.
Tuesday Feb 2nd we arrived in St. Thomas, we took a Carnival
excursion on the Adventurer over to St John’s, this is where
John proposed to Roxy – “YES” was her answer – pics of this
can be found on a link that will be added to the end of this
review.
Once back onboard, we all got cleaned up, relaxed, and met
up for dinner, we all talked about our adventures of the
day, and enjoyed another fine dinner.
The show in the Encore lounge was “Dancing in the Streets”
this is a Must See show, the entertainment staff and
performers were Awesome.
After the show we ventured to other places around the ship.
Wednesday Feb 3rd was our St. Maarten port day, we had
decided on doing the Tiki Hut snorkel excursion that day
instead of venturing out on our own, this was due to the
number of ships in port that day ( 7 in all including RCCL’s
Oasis of the Seas )
We enjoyed our time on the floating Tiki Hut, snorkeld, and
had a good time.
The “Remembering Michael” ( Jackson ) video was shown on the
seaside theater screen prior to dinner, interesting video to
say the least.
Dinner once again in the Crimson, where we all talked about
what we had done during the day in St. Maarten.
The show in the Encore lounge was John Healds “Ultimate
Talent & Audience Participation” show, all the cruisers who
were in this show were good, and the Bedtime Story was
Awesome, some of the cruisers that were picked for this
part, were part of our MHWC family, and one lady that John
named Mary we had met on the excursion to St. John’s – Its
one of those shows where You had to be there LoL.
Having John as our CD on this sailing was Awesome, for those
of you that have sailed on Carnival before, know that the CD
helps make the cruise, John is the Top Man and it definitely
shows – Hats Off to John for a Job Well Done.
A Latin deck party was held on the Mid-ship Lido deck that
night as well, another good time was had by all.
Thursday Feb 4th was another sea day, we had our Putt Putt
golf games that afternoon, everyone who participated had a
good time, awards were given out to the winners.
That night we all met again in the Crimson for dinner, after
dinner we went to the Encore lounge for the “Get Ready”
show, after the show we went to the Burgundy lounge for the
late night adult comedy show, good entertainment at both.
Friday Feb 5th was our last sea day, a Jammies for breakfast
event was planned, and those that wanted met in the
“Gathering” buffet deck 10 aft for breakfast that morning.
The rest of the day was duty free shopping, relaxing,
getting the last full day of sun, then we met again for our
“Water Slide” races, awards were given out to the winners.
The twin race slides were fun, the Drain pipe is crazy, and
the Twister is a Wild Ride for sure.
John (CD) did an afternoon live TV show we stopped by to
talk, introduce ourselves, John met our John (grass skirt
and coconuts – pics are in the pic link) we all had quite a
few laughs, plus this portion of the show was up on the
seaside theater screen and cabin TV’s as well, it was also
looped on the TV’s the rest of the cruise.
We all met for the last nights dinner once again to talked
about the cruise, the ports, and the new friendships that
once again were made.
We had our luggage ready and outside our cabin for pickup,
this time we actually had to leave the Dream – (pout pout).
That evening we went to the Carnival “Legends” show in the
Encore lounge where we watched our fellow cruisers perform
songs from various artist.
Saturday morning we arrived back in Port Canaveral, Bill,
Karen, Sioux & I went one last time to the Scarlet dining
room for our final breakfast, the Debarkation process
started early, and was seamless once again, all passangers
were off by 10:30.
We took Bill & Karen back over to the Radisson where they
checked in, and also took them to pick up their rental car,
after that we rode over to Merrit Island, found an Applebees
where they treated us to lunch, we talked about all the fun
that we had on the B2B, and continued talking about a 2012
group cruise. `````` Copy & Paste the following link into
