Celebrity Infinity Cruise Critique.

We just returned from a 14-day voyage aboard the Celebrity Infinity. Beginning March 28th, 2010 Ft. Lauderdale, and passing the Panama Canal,  Costa Rica, Columbia and Mexico completing our journey on April 11, 2010.  We are somewhat disappointed with the experience in many ways.  We’ve been on a number of cruses on Princess and Royal Caribbean and we enjoyed the cruise experience with those cruise lines.,

The crew and staff were professional and welcoming second to none.  To a person they couldn’t do enough for you!

The veranda rooms were tired:  dirty couches and unstable tiles in the bathroom.  The balcony carpets were stained and old.  .

All food service and entertainment was geared to the Super, super, senior demographic. 75+  We are in our 60’s and young contemporary progressive spirits.  We would have enjoyed more contemporary entertainment as well as menus. Big Bands, Show Tunes, Trivia Games were greatly enjoyed by many of our fellow travelers.  Entertainment was generations in content.  Movies were at 6:30 and 9:00 …. the dinner hour.  I would have enjoyed a film in the late am or early pm.

Food service… Yikes!.  The food was spotty in quality.  The menus were repetitive.  Flavors and texture were bland, over salted,  and many times overcooked.  I lost a few pounds on this trip!  Food service availability was highly structured  i.e., prior to shore excursions lunch was not available.  For example: excursion meeting time at noon,  late breakfast ended at 11:30 and lunch started at noon.  This was annoying.   This ship is not geared for select dining (any time between 6-9:30pm)  They are geared for the traditional two dinner seatings.

We contacted the Noro Virus and were confined to our cabin for 24 hours.  We were very pleased with the medical attention and care given at the  ship’s infirmary.

In summary I wouldn’t ever consider traveling on this cruise line again.
