Founded in 1873, Holland America's first ocean liner was
the original Rotterdam which carried passengers from the
Netherlands to New York City. Since then it has grown to
a fleet of 15 ships offering itineraries world-wide. In
1989, HAL was purchased by the Carnival Corporation but
still retains its own style and traditional appeal. The
reservation-only Pinnacle Grill is HAL's signature
restaurant and is the alternative dining venue on all
ships fleetwide. A Culinary Arts Center and "The
Collections", specially designed shore excursions, are
just a couple of the unique amenities that Holland
America offers its guests.
