The Holland America
Zuiderdam is one of the fleet's larger ships weighing in
at 82,305 tons. First in the Vista Class series, the
Zuiderdam was HAL's attempt to usher in a "new look" to
attract a younger demographic. Flashy and brightly
colored, its decor departs from the traditional, more
conservative ambiance that was a trademark of HAL ships.
Undergoing renovations, Zuiderdam was outfitted with
HAL's "Signature of Excellence" upgrades. The
Explorations Cafe and a movie theater are just two of
the new venues that were added. The onboard experience
is enhanced by the hard-working crew that are mostly
Indonesian and Filipino. On this, and all ships in the
fleet, the crew share their culture with guests through
various events scheduled during the cruise.
